Four more games came and went during the month of February for Partick Thistle with two wins and two draws added to the Jags’ catalogue.
It started with a successful Scottish Cup tie against Elgin City at Borough Briggs as a place in the quarter-finals was claimed, that being followed up by a win over Airdrieonians at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill in the league.
There were then a pair of stalemates to end the month with a late goal denying the Jags three points against Dunfermline before they had to play nearly half an hour with 10 men to get a spirited draw at home to Arbroath.
March will kick off on Sunday against St. Mirren with a place at Hampden on the line, but first it’s time to decide who deserves the Seven Wealth Player of the Month award for February!
Alex Samuel

The January Seven Wealth Player of the Month was contributing heavily again in February. Samuel won a penalty at Elgin which Tony Watt converted, scored a go-ahead goal off the bench at Dunfermline and was the man hauled down by Tam O’Brien in the latter stages against Arbroath as the visiting skipper was sent off. Now on eight goals for the season, the Welshman’s dogged determination and quality in front of goal has made him an invaluable asset for Mark Wilson.
Josh Clarke

Clarke, who has now been nominated for six consecutive monthly awards, kept two clean sheets during February taking him to nine for the season in the league. The 21-year-old made a couple of outstanding saves which directly contributed to results for his team; first at Elgin when his sprawling stop denied the home side a last-minute equaliser and then at home to Arbroath when his right-handed reach tipped a Findlay Marshall shot over the bar to help the Jags towards a point.
Aidan Fitzpatrick

Thistle winger Fitzpatrick made a great start to the month when a lively second half against Elgin City culminated with an assist for the winning goal to send the Maryhill Men into the quarter-finals. He followed that up with an impressive showing off the bench against Airdrieonians before he played a key part in the team’s opening goal in a 2-2 draw at East End Park. He ended February with an impressive shift out wide against Arbroath, working hard in both directions as Thistle took the game to the Red Lichties in the second half despite being at a man disadvantage for the majority.
Ben Stanway

Academy graduate Ben Stanway’s terrific campaign at the top end of the pitch continued last month as he scored two more goals with each of them proving to be winners. First, at Elgin he fired home from 15 yards out via a deflection to send his team into the last eight of the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2019 and then at home to Airdrieonians, on his 100th senior appearance as a Partick Thistle player, the midfielder powered home a pinpoint free-kick to earn three pivotal points in Maryhill.
