It was a weekend of near-misses for the Glasgow Clan, taking 2 out of 4 points with two overtime losses to the Guildford Flames and Nottingham Panthers.
The Clan opened strong at Braehead Arena, with plenty of action in the o-zone, though no conversions. The second period saw Mick Messner scoring the first goal at the midway point in the game. Guildford responded just minutes later through Preziuso.
Cade Neilson put the home side back in front early in the third, only for the Flames to equalise 32 seconds later. After a tense final ten minutes, the game went to overtime, where Cole Ully netted for Guildford inside the first minute to claim the two points.
Saturday in Nottingham was a rollercoaster. Rylan Schwartz opened for the Clan, but a quick shorthanded goal from Didrik Henbrant and a first-period strike from Mitch Fossier put the Panthers ahead.
Tristin Langan pulled the Clan within one with a powerplay goal, followed by a second PPG from the Panthers. The third period saw the Clan rally with goals from Brett Neumann and a second from Schwartz to force overtime. Unfortunately, Didrik Henbrant scored just over a minute in to seal a 5–4 Panthers win.
The Devils return to Braehead Arena for their final visit of the season. The Clan have taken 2 wins and an OT loss in five fixtures this season and will be aiming to secure at least a point to edge ahead of the Coventry Blaze in the standings.
A pivotal clash awaits on the road against the Blaze. Having beaten Coventry only once in five meetings, the Clan need a full-strength performance to claim two points and potentially overtake the Blaze in 7th place (subject to other results).
Every point counts as the Clans push to climb the table in the final stretch of the season.
