Gary Mackay-Steven has signed for the club on a deal until the end of the season, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The twice capped Scotsman left Ross County last month and has now put pen to paper at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill having spent this week in training with the squad.
Originally from the Highlands, Gary started his senior career with Airdrie before being snapped up by Dundee United in 2011.
His performances in three-and-a-half seasons at Tannadice earned him a move to Celtic where he would win three Scottish Premiership titles, playing 62 games and scoring 10 goals along the way.
Since departing the Hoops, Mackay-Steven has featured for Aberdeen, New York City, Hearts, Kilmarnock and most recently Ross County where he made 19 appearances in all competitions this season.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“Gary is someone I played with at Dundee United and he has always been a supremely talented player. I got in touch with him recently to find out what his situation was after leaving Ross County and he was very keen to come in and train.
“We’re obviously a bit light on numbers at the moment, especially in the wide areas, and Gary represents a very useful option on the wing. He’s been without a club for about six weeks so he’ll not be match sharp straight away but I can tell he’s eager to contribute as quickly as possible.”
