🗓️Saturday 28th March 2026 | Kick-off: 2:00pm

East Fife came from two goals behind on Saturday to claim a draw against title chasing Stenhousemuir.

Two goals in a minute, from Andy Munro and Nathan Austin gave East Fife their third point in as many games, as the Fifers are now unbeaten in their last three outings.

The game started well for East Fife, with Michael McKenna creating a handful of chances in the opening quarter of an hour. Firstly, he flashed a ball across the goalmouth, though there were no takers and the score remained level.

Five minutes later, East Fife had another chance, sparked again by McKenna. He whipped a ball into the box, which Austin got on the end of. From there, he tried to sweep it across to Slattery, although Stenhousemuir regrouped and defended well.

Half chances kept on coming for East Fife, as Nathan Austin forced Darren Jamieson into a save after twenty minutes.

After that save was made, the game appeared to flip on its head, with Stenhousemuir surging into the ascendency.

Michael Anderson had Stenhousemuir’s first big chance of the game when he hit the woodwork from close range. Moments later, Gregor Buchanan opened the scoring from a corner kick. He stabbed home from close range, handing the Warriors the lead.

East Fife made it into half time with just one goal separating the sides, however that would change soon after the restart as Michael Anderson scored with an impressive strike.

East Fife huffed and puffed despite being two down, bringing on Destiny Oladipo to offer another aerial threat. This would prove to be a worthwhile substitution, as with twenty minutes to go, East Fife halved the deficit. Andy Munro found himself a slither of space and answered Reis Peggie’s long throw, sending his headed effort into the back of the net.

East Fife had less than sixty seconds to wait until they pulled level as well. East Fife won a corner almost instantly after the restart. Pat Slattery whipped it in to Andy Munro, who then flashed the header to the back post, where it met Nathan Austin to nod home for East Fife, grabbing the all-important equaliser.

The game almost fizzled out after that, although it was a well-earned point for East Fife, considering the circumstances just after half time. Stenhousemuir were left kicking themselves, as they squandered what looked to be a golden opportunity to go top of the league.

East Fife assistant manager Ian Campbell shared this elation with his squad’s character post-match:

“Stenhousemuir are a good side, but I thought we were better than them in the first half. We switched off for the first goal, but we had the better of them over the piece. We were hit with a blow at the start of the second half conceding a bizarre second goal. After that, the attitude of the players is tremendous, could we have played better? Of course. The conditions weren’t great either, but we got a result at the end of the day.”
