Alloa Athletic 2-0 East Fife – Match Report by Oli Anderson
🏆William Hill League 1

🗓️Saturday 18th April 2026 | Kick-off: 3:00pm
East Fife fell back into the relegation fight last weekend, following a poor 2-0 defeat to Alloa Athletic at Recreation Park. Easy goals proved costly again, as the hosts cruised to victory without getting out of second gear.
The Fifers named an unchanged starting lineup, although we were unable to reach the heights that we did against Peterhead.
East Fife were forced into defensive action early, as Brian Easton made a last-ditch tackle to deny Alloa inside the opening five minutes.
Alloa went on to take the lead after fifteen minutes. A nothing cross from the back post flew over everyone and found full back Waters at the penalty spot. He was able to guide his half volley through the legs of a few Fife defenders before flying past Hemfrey into the bottom corner.
East Fife struggled to create over the course of the first half, but with five minutes left before the interval, direct from a corner kick. Michael McKenna swung the ball in, and it looked destined for the top corner, however, it sailed just past the posts.
The second half started in the same manner as the first, with Alloa firmly in control. Luke Donnelly was the man to kill the game off for Alloa Athletic. He excellently beat the offside line with a piercing run and found himself one-on-one with Hemfrey. He managed to beat the goalie.
The game petered out if truth be told, with Alloa finishing the game well on top.
After the contest, Sam Culbert spoke to East Fife TV, describing the game as “not good enough.”
He said: “We weren’t at it today. It wasn’t good enough. We have two cup finals left this season, and if we win them, we know it’ll be enough to stay up.”
We host Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, where a defeat would see us sink further into a relegation fight, while a victory would go a long way in securing survival.
