The Glasgow Clan are pleased to confirm that Mike Sirant has signed a contract extension and will continue as Head Coach heading into the 2026/27 season.
Sirant, who is entering his third season with the organisation, took over head coaching duties during the 2025/26 campaign following the departure of Corey Neilson in January. Since his first game in charge against the Nottingham Panthers on 28th January 2026, he has helped stabilise and reshape the team during a key period of the season.
Under his leadership, the Clan produced a strong end to the regular season, building momentum at a crucial time and delivering a notable run of performances that culminated in one of the standout moments in recent club history. That progress included a memorable victory over league champions the Belfast Giants on 12th April 2026, securing a place in the Playoff Final Weekend for the first time in 12 years.
Across his tenure to date, Sirant has overseen a run of improved performances and results that saw the team grow in consistency, competitiveness, and belief during the run-in to the season. The campaign concluded with a narrow defeat to the Cardiff Devils in the semi-final, before the Clan responded strongly to secure third place with a win over the Manchester Storm.
Reflecting on his new contract, Sirant said:
I feel privileged to have the opportunity to continue as Head Coach of the Glasgow Clan and to represent this organisation and the amazing fans we have here in Glasgow.
I’m excited to get to work building on the success we had at the end of last season, and to continue developing a strong, consistent winning culture within the club.
My wife Gail and I are excited to return to Glasgow. We’ve really enjoyed our time in the city and have met so many wonderful people along the way.
As an organisation, there’s a real determination to continue this upward trajectory. I want to thank Russ Smith for his leadership, and owner Mickey O’Rourke for his commitment to building the kind of environment that gives us the best possible chance to win.
With Sirant now confirmed to lead the team into a full season from the outset for the first time, the Clan move forward with continuity behind the bench and a clear focus on building on the progress made during a pivotal end to the 2025/26 campaign.
