Glasgow Clan Sign Finnish Defenceman Juho Rautanen

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Finnish defenceman Juho Rautanen ahead of the 2026/27 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

The 28-year-old arrives in Glasgow following a strong season in France’s Ligue Magnus with The Brûleurs de Loups (Grenoble), where he recorded 4 goals, 18 assists and an impressive +21 rating in 33 appearances from the blue line.

Rautanen now makes the move to the EIHL after building a wealth of experience across Europe, having played over 400 games across the Liiga, KHL and Champions Hockey League. Prior to his time in France, the Finnish blueliner spent two seasons with Ilves in the Liiga, having previously iced in five consecutive campaigns with KooKoo.

The 6ft defenceman brings a strong two-way presence to the Clan blue line, playing a physical style, finishing his checks consistently and boxing out well in defensive situations heading into the new season.

Speaking after signing with the Clan, Rautanen said:

Director of Hockey Operations Zach Vinnell believes the Finnish defender will play a key role for the Clan this season.

Juho is a true professional & encompasses the culture we are looking to build. He is a versatile defenceman with a ton of experience across top European leagues. He can be used in all situations and will be a big piece on our back end for the upcoming season. We look forward to welcoming Juho and his wife to Glasgow in August.

Rautanen becomes the latest addition to the Clan roster as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign and will wear #77.
