Clan Adds Finnish D-Man Reini to the Roster

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Finnish defenceman Julius Reini for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

The 26-year-old arrives in Glasgow following a season with Pioneers Vorarlberg in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL), where he worked under Clan Assistant Coach Steve Birnstill.

Standing at 6ft 2in, Reini brings size, physicality and a defence-first mentality to the Clan blue line. Known for his willingness to put his body on the line and his effectiveness on the penalty kill, the Finnish blueliner will add further strength and stability to Glasgow’s defensive unit heading into the new campaign.

A product of Finland’s highly respected development system, Reini has built up valuable experience across the Finnish leagues before making the move to Austria last season. His reliable defensive play, commitment away from the puck and team-first attitude made him an important part of the Pioneers setup.

Of the player, Assistant Coach Steve Birnstill said:

“Julius is a person with great character. I know him well from last season with the Pioneers and I think Clan fans can expect to see a player who gives it all for his teammates every night. He’s a very good defender that brings a physical edge to his game, great on the penalty kill, and always bringing positive energy to the team during both practices and games.”

On making the move to Glasgow, Reini added:

“When I heard the club was interested in me and what they were going to build, I was sold immediately. Super excited, can’t wait to get to Glasgow and get things started!”

Reini becomes the fourth Finnish player to join the Clan roster ahead of the 2026/27 season, further strengthening the connection within the squad as preparations continue for the new campaign.

Clan fans can also look forward to seeing Reini take to the ice in purple wearing number 44.
