Cade Neilson Returns For Third Season In Purple

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce that GB international forward Cade Neilson has signed a contract extension, keeping him in purple for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

The 25-year-old will return for a third consecutive campaign in Glasgow after becoming a familiar face in the Clan lineup over the past two seasons.

Neilson first arrived midway through the 2024/25 season from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies and quickly established himself as a dependable two-way forward, contributing 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 21 league appearances.

The English-Canadian forward built on that foundation last season, recording 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) in 39 Elite League appearances before helping the Clan reach the Playoff Finals Weekend for the first time in his career. Throughout the campaign, he continued to play an important role in all situations, earning the trust of the coaching staff with his work ethic, physicality and relentless compete level.

Away from club hockey, Neilson has continued to establish himself on the international stage with Great Britain. After representing GB during the Final Olympic Qualification tournament in the 2024 campaign, he returned to the national team for the 2025 IIHF World Championship, continuing to add to his growing international experience.

Having now experienced his first Playoff Finals Weekend in a Clan jersey, Neilson says it has only strengthened his desire to help bring success back to Glasgow.

Getting to the Playoff Finals Weekend for the first time was a great experience, but once you’re there you realise you want even more. It definitely feels like there’s some unfinished business for this group.
The support we get from the Purple Army is incredible every single night and I can’t wait to get back out there in front of them. Hopefully we can give them lots to cheer about this season.
