Ben McPhersons permanent move to Firhill confirmed

Last week Ben McPherson became a fully-fledged Partick Thistle player as his previously agreed two-year deal commenced.

The 22-year-old makes the permanent switch to Maryhill off the back of a successful loan spell under Mark Wilson wherein he played 40 games and scored two goals.

Debuting off the bench in a home draw against Greenock Morton, McPherson soon established himself in the first XI as he contributed to eight wins in his first nine starts.

Continuing to perform well as the season progressed, Ben got his first Thistle goal in March against Raith Rovers while deputising as a winger and he followed it up with another in the very next game against Ross County.

Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:

“We were absolutely ecstatic with the impact that Ben McPherson had during his loan spell last season and it’s great to have him back again.

“He gave us real energy down that right-hand side and showed his team-first mentality on a number of occasions when we asked him to play different roles. He got better and better as the year went on and there’s even more growth to come.

“Over the summer he’s been nursing an injury from the end of last season and he’s still a couple of weeks away from getting back on the grass, however, I know he’s been working hard to get back to fitness as soon as possible.”
