Three Clan Stars Named in Great Britain Squad for 2026 World Championship

The Glasgow Clan are proud to confirm that Cade Neilson, Robert Lachowicz Lucas Brine and Joe Hazeldinehave all been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland.

The tournament will take place from 15th to 31st May, with Great Britain competing in Group A at the 12,000-seater Swiss Life Arena in Zurich. Pete Russell’s side will face a challenging line-up of opposition, taking on Austria, USA, Hungary, Switzerland, Finland, Latvia and Germany in the group stages.

Their inclusion is a significant moment for the Clan, with three key players earning the opportunity to compete on the international stage against some of the world’s elite hockey nations.

Defenceman Joe Hazeldine continues to establish himself as a reliable presence on the blue line, while forwards Robert Lachowicz and Cade Neilsonbring experience, leadership and offensive threat to the GB roster. All four have been important contributors in Clan colours and now take that form into the international arena.

Across the wider squad, six players are set to make their World Championship debut, highlighting a blend of fresh talent and established experience within the group as Great Britain prepare for another top-level campaign.

As part of their preparations, GB will face Italy in a four-game series ahead of the tournament. The sides will meet twice on home ice at Planet Ice Milton Keynes (30th April) and the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham (2nd May), before travelling to Varese for two further fixtures on 10th and 12th May.

The full Great Britain squad features a strong representation from across the Elite Ice Hockey League and beyond, with Clan netminder Lucas Brine also named among the standby reserves.
