The Glasgow Clan took two points from a fiery weekend against the Fife Flyers before turning attention to another crucial set of fixtures in the race for playoff positioning.
The Clan returned to Braehead Arena on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd and delivered a strong all-round performance.
Brett Neumann opened the scoring in the first period to set the tone early. The second period saw Pare double the advantage before the Clan pulled away in the third through goals from Rylan Schwartz and Mick Messner.
Messner’s strike marked his first goal in Clan colours, an important milestone that helped cap a confident home display.
The game also carried a physical edge, with tensions boiling over at times and multiple Clan players sent to the penalty box, including a moment where four skaters were serving penalties simultaneously. Despite the disruption, the Clan maintained control to secure a deserved two points.
Sunday’s return fixture at the Fife Ice Arena proved a dramatic and high-scoring affair.
The Flyers struck first, and every time the Clan battled back to equalise, the home side responded in kind. The Clan’s goals came from Chris McKay, two from Daniel Tedesco, and two more from Mick Messner, who continued his strong weekend form.
With the game hanging in the balance late on, a penalty shot inside the final two minutes handed Fife the decisive goal, leaving the Clan just short despite a spirited offensive effort.
The focus now shifts to another pivotal weekend as the regular season enters its decisive stretch.
The Clan welcome the Dundee Stars to Braehead Arena. With a strong record in recent meetings, the Clan will be aiming to capitalise on home ice and collect valuable points in the playoff race.
The Clan then travel to face the Manchester Storm in their final meeting of the season. Having already taken multiple wins in the series, the Clan know they are capable of coming away with points.
With the standings tightly contested, every result now carries significant weight. Closing the gap on Guildford and Coventry will require consistency, focus, and a strong finish to the season.
While other results around the league will play a role, the Clan’s priority remains clear – control what’s in front of them and take maximum points from the games that remain.
The push toward playoff seeding continues.
