All at Partick Thistle Football Club were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of much-loved Jags supporter Allan Dickson this week at the age of 91.
A season ticket holder for over 80 years, Allan’s red and yellow journey began during the 1940s with some of his earliest football memories involving Bill Shankly at Firhill.
Over the years, as he followed the club up and down the country, he would befriend numerous legendary Thistle figures including the likes of David McParland, John Harvey, and Molly Stallan with Bob Rough, father of Hall of Famer Alan, acting as Best Man at his wedding.
His legacy as a valued member of our fanbase is evidenced by the lounge named after him at local supporters’ bar Munn’s Vaults on Maryhill Road and by the song ‘King Of The Garscube Road’ written as a tribute to Allan by The Lambie McParlands.
The thoughts of everyone at the WrightKerr Stadium at Firhill are with Allan’s family at this challenging time.
Rest in peace Allan. Once a Jag, always a Jag.
The club is asking fans at tomorrow’s game against Greenock Morton to take part in a minute’s applause in Allan’s memory when the clock hits 35 minutes, a nod to the year he was born.
Funeral details:
Allan’s funeral will take place at 12pm on Friday, 20th November at the Glasgow Crematorium in Lambhill. All Thistle supporters are welcome to come along and pay their respects.
