The runaway winner of the Seven Wealth Player of the Month for September is Cale Loughrey!
The Canadian defender earned nearly 80% of the overall vote; just rewards for an outstanding start to his first full season in Red and Yellow.
Cale has played every minute of the league campaign so far, contributing to six clean sheets in eight Championship matches as part of the division’s joint-best defence, showing equal amounts of grit and class along the way.
Upon receiving the award, Cale said:
“I’ve really enjoyed this season so far and it’s great to know that the fans have liked my performances as well. You always want to be playing games so to have played every minute in the league to this point is fantastic for me.
“As a team, we’ve been incredibly solid at the back and that’s stood us in good stead. Obviously, we’d like to have scored a few more goals but hopefully Saturday was a sign of things to come for that.
“We’ve got lots of games on the way this month so we’re focused on building some momentum. It’ll be tough but I think everyone here believes in what we’re trying to do and that we’ll get the results we need if we keep working hard.”
