The Glasgow Clan head into tonight’s final regular season game with everything on the line and a clear playoff path depending on the result against the Sheffield Steelers.
What It Means for the Clan
There are two possible outcomes for the Clan:
Win in regulation
If the Clan take two points in regulation and the Coventry Blaze lose to the Belfast Giants, they will give themselves a chance to finish 7th place. Should results elsewhere fall in their favour, that would see them face the 2nd seed in the Playoff Quarter-Finals next weekend. This could be the Cardiff Devils or the Nottingham Panthers, depending on who wins their game this evening.
Anything else (OT/SO loss or regulation defeat)
The Clan will finish 8th and face the league champions the Belfast Giants in the Playoff Quarter-Finals.
The Bottom Line
There is no margin for error.
A regulation win keeps the Clan’s hopes of climbing the standings alive and offers a more favourable playoff route.
Anything less, and the road to the playoffs becomes tougher.
