August 24, 2026

The Glasgow Clan are delighted to confirm the additions of Janne Karvonen as Goaltending Coach and Adam Walker as Assistant Coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The appointments strengthen Head Coach Mike Sirant’s coaching staff as the Clan prepare for the new Motorpoint Elite League campaign.

Walker returns to the Clan coaching staff

Adam Walker will also join the coaching staff as Assistant Coach.

Walker, who was born in Kirkcaldy, has enjoyed a lengthy playing career in British ice hockey, gaining experience across the Scottish and wider British hockey systems. A familiar face within Braehead Arena, he brings that wealth of playing experience and knowledge of the game into his new coaching role with the Clan for the 2026/27 season.

Walker brings valuable experience and knowledge of the British game to the staff and will work alongside Head Coach Sirant and the rest of the coaching team throughout the campaign.

Of his appointment, Head Coach Mike Sirant said,

We’re very glad to have Adam return to the Clan Coaching staff! Adam has an impressive hockey resume and an excellent knowledge of the game. He is a great communicator and teacher who has a passion for coaching. As a former player, Adam is very loyal to the Clan and committed to helping the organization succeed. His familiarity with young local Scottish players is also an asset to the Clan organization. He works really well with Assistant Coach Birnstill and I, and along with Janne makes an outstanding Clan Coaching team.

His appointment further strengthens the Clan’s off-ice structure as preparations continue for the start of the 2026/27 season.

Karvonen joins as Goaltending Coach

Finnish coach Janne Karvonen joins the Clan in a specialist goaltending role, bringing experience from both coaching and playing within the sport.

Finnish born Karvonen has built an extensive career in goaltending and coaching, working across Finland and internationally. His experience includes roles within the Nordic Hockey Academy and the Finnish Mestis as well as involvement with the Estonian national programme, where he most recently worked as a Goaltending Coach at international level during the 2025/26 season.

He will work closely with the Clan’s goaltenders throughout the season, while also supporting the wider coaching staff.

Director of Hockey Operations Zach Vinnell said:

“We are excited to have Janne join our staff. He brings enthusiasm and a great attitude to the rink every day. With his experience he will not only help our goalies continue to develop but will also play a big part in supporting our staff in other areas.”

Karvonen’s arrival adds further specialist expertise to a Clan goaltending group that includes Rasmus Tirronen, Liam Soulière and Dan Norton.

Welcome to the coaching staff, Janne and Adam.
