A new book celebrating the life and career of Partick Thistle legend Jimmy Bone will be launched at the WrightKerr Stadium at Firhill today.
The ’71 League Cup final goal hero and Jags Hall of Famer was working on a biography of his life when he sadly passed away in September last year.
Now almost one year since his passing, the book is finally being published in his honour.
Written by journalist Ben Ramage and titled ‘Bone Idol’, the biography follows Bone’s entire life, from working down a mining pit to scoring goals for Thistle and Scotland.
To tie in with the club’s 150th anniversary, 150 copies of the book will be available for sale throughout Firhill ahead of this afternoon’s Championship clash with Queen’s Park.
Bone’s former teammates Denis McQuade and Frank Coulston, fellow ’71 legends, will be in attendance alongside the author to sign copies of the book and share their memories of working and playing with the hugely respected striker.
The book features unseen pictures of Jimmy’s life and career, as well as exclusive stories from former colleagues – including Thistle’s legendary keeper Alan Rough.
The book will be available to purchase from the Aitken Suite from 1pm, with the option to also have it held to be picked up after full-time.
