Having earned just under half of the total vote last week, Lewis Budinauckas has been named Seven Wealth Player of the Month for July!
The 24-year-old shot stopper gets his hands on the first monthly prize of the new campaign after a trio of strong performances during the Premier Sports Cup group stages, keeping a pair of clean sheets as the team secured progression to the Second Round.
It was in the game that he did concede that Lewis shone most, however, as he turned penalty hero following a 1-1 draw with Livingston when a crucial bonus point was in the balance.
Budinauckas went the right was for all five Livi spot kicks and managed to keep three out with his stop to deny Cammy Kerr sealing the shootout success for Mark Wilson’s men.
After being presented with the trophy by Seven Wealth’s Chris Cassidy, Lewis said:
“As a group, throughout pre-season, we were focused on getting off to a good start in the Premier Sports Cup like we did last year and we were all delighted to go through again.
“It wasn’t all plain sailing for us but we played some really nice stuff in spells, scored goals and kept a couple of clean sheets so I think there was plenty to be happy about. It has set us up nicely going into the league.
“It’s a great group to be a part of and we’re all working towards the same goal. There’s competition all over the pitch and that includes the goalkeepers – we’re all pushing each other every day and that helps bring out the best in everyone.”
