Liam Rooney makes loan switch to Clyde

Partick Thistle Youth Academy graduate Liam Rooney has joined SPFL League 2 side Clyde on a loan deal until January, subject to Scottish F.A. clearance.

The full-back, who made his first team debut in April last year, heads to New Douglas Park off the back of a full pre-season with Mark Wilson’s first team squad during which he featured off the bench in friendlies against Pollok and Kilbirnie Ladeside.

In his second year as a modern apprentice with the club, Liam spent time on loan with the aforementioned Pollok at the end of last season but now gets the chance to test himself at SPFL level with Darren Young’s Bully Wee.

Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:

“A loan move to League 2 represents a great chance for Liam to test himself and develop his game. He’s done well over the summer and needs the chance to play competitive football to really push on.

“We’ll be monitoring his progress closely and hopefully it’s a very successful few months for him.”
