Maryhill Burgh Halls Exhibition Update

The Partick Thistle Heritage Committee’s exhibition at Maryhill Burgh Halls has enjoyed an encouraging start since opening on Monday 8th June, with a steady flow of supporters and local residents visiting to view the extensive collection of artefacts on display.

During the first week, we were delighted to welcome an unexpected visitor in former Jags defender Alan Kay, who played at right-back for the club between 1978 and 1984. Alan was attending a Stroke Support meeting within the Burgh Halls and took the opportunity to visit the exhibition. Many supporters will also remember Alan as a familiar face at Firhill, where he regularly assisted Robert Reid with the half-time draw.

The exhibition also formed part of the Maryhill is Wonderful Open Day on Saturday 13th June, attracting additional visitors and generating further publicity through local media outlets.

We were also pleased to welcome local MSP Bob Doris to the exhibition. Following his visit, Mr Doris lodged a Parliamentary Motion at Holyrood recognising Partick Thistle’s 150th anniversary and the club’s significant contribution to the local community. This acknowledgement is a fitting tribute as we continue to celebrate this important milestone in the club’s history.

The exhibition remains open at Maryhill Burgh Halls until 24th July, Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm, with free admission for all visitors.

We would encourage supporters who have not yet visited to take the opportunity to come along and explore 150 years of Partick Thistle history through the many trophies, medals, memorabilia and displays on show.
