Partick Thistle Youth Academy graduate Matthew Falconer has signed a two-year professional contract at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill, with the club holding the option to extend for a further season.
The creative midfielder, whose association with the Jags began as an 11-year-old, has been around the first team environment since signing his modern apprenticeship in October 2024.

A frequent goalscorer and captain at youth level, Matthew made his first team debut in Mark Wilson’s first game as part of the senior management team, against Airdrieonians in February of last year.
That was his only appearance of the 2024/25 campaign but this season he’s featured seven more times including his first professional start which came against Inverness in the KDM Evolution Trophy.
He also got the opportunity to experience Lowland League football during a stint with Linlithgow Rose under Thistle’s cooperation agreement with the Prestonfield side.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“Having previously been Under 18s manager with the Academy, I knew all about the talent that Matty had when I stepped up to first team environment and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him this season as Head Coach.
“He has all the attributes and ability required to play in our mobile style of midfield and also has a real knack for producing goals and assists from the middle of the park.
“We really believe in Matty’s potential but it’s now up to him to realise that potential by continuing to work hard each and every day in training. I’m very excited to have him as part of the squad for two more years.”
