Ben McPherson and Liam McFarlane have been called up to the Scotland Under 21s squad for UEFA EURO qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.
The duo earn international recognition following a strong start to the season as part of a Jags backline that has conceded just twice through 6 league matches.
For McPherson, it’s a chance to add to the nine caps he has already at Under 21s level having most recently featured for the team against Gibraltar last November.
On-loan Hearts ‘keeper McFarlane has been involved in several previous 21s squads and was also part of the senior national team’s travelling party for the World Cup over the summer in the United States.
They will take on Azerbaijan at BBSP Rugby Park in Kilmarnock on Wednesday, 30th September before travelling to Plovdiv to take on Bulgaria on Tuesday, 6th October at Stadion Georgi Benkovski.
As a result of these call-ups, Ben and Liam will miss our upcoming league fixtures against Dunfermline Athletic and Arbroath.
