PTWFC August Player of the Month

With the curtain opening on the 26/27 campaign, August’s fixtures set to challenge Partick Thistle Women right front he off. However, using the lessons learned from their first two outings, Gary Holt’s Jags were eventually rewarded with a deserved 3 points from an all round polished performance on the road against Aberdeen.

Your 4 nominees for August’s Player of the month are:

Amy Bulloch

Since penning her return to the Red and Yellow, Bulls has been a feature in every starting 11 through the opening month’s fixtures.

It was a case of picking up right where she left off as her composure in the midfield led to a number of positive pieces of Thistle play through the 3 outings. Arguably, her most important contributions came on the road at Aberdeen where her decisive set pieces played catalyst to 2 of the 3 goals scored, in what would inevitably claim Thistle’s first three points of the season.

Darra Dawson

A newcomer in the summer window, Darra has hit the ground running as she settled into life at Petershill.

The young defender quickly became a prominent feature of the Jags starting eleven that challenged well against the former league champions before she played her part with a professional performance that aided the clean sheet against Aberdeen, playing the pass to Sophie Townsley that led to the second goal of the afternoon.

Abby Robinson

Since putting pen to paper over the summer, Abby has become a key feature to an overall impressive Jags side.

The midfielder was quick to find her rhythm in SWPL1, immediately knocking on the door against both Spartans and Hibs before she claimed her well deserved first goal in Jags colours at Aberdeen as she caught on to the rebound from the corner to fire high into the net for the opener that afternoon in what would eventually be a SWPL team of the week feature for the number 10.

Sophie Townsley

Another new arrival and ever present throughout August’s campaign, Sophie’s quickly proven to be another successful product of a busy Jags transfer window.

A standout performance in the opening day fixture against Spartans, it was Sophie who opened the Jags goal account, as touted by the majority of her teammates, in spectacular fashion as she sent the free kick from the edge of the box curing beyond the keeper for the opener that afternoon. She was to score in even more spectacular fashion against Aberdeen curling a long range stunner into the top corner.
