Seven Wealth Player of the Month for April

Mark ChristieMark ChristieFootball1 month ago29 Views

April has represented a third unbeaten month of the season for Mark Wilson’s Partick Thistle as the Maryhill Men stretched their run of league games with defeat to 13.

A trio of draws away to Ayr United, Airdrieonians and Arbroath were supplemented by a convincing 2-0 home win against Dunfermline Athletic which secured the Jags’ top two finish and a place in the Premiership play-off semi-finals.

Now, as the team prepares to round off their Championship campaign against Queen’s Park on Friday night, it’s time for you to decide who was the standout player in April and deserves the Seven Wealth Player of the Month award!

Alex Samuel

Thistle’s Welsh striker is looking to become the first Jag to win back-to-back Player of the Month prizes this season having won the March award as well as the January one already. He scored twice during April with both goals coming in our 2-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic – first a terrific touch and finish from the edge of the box into the near bottom corner, then a more routine finish from six yards out.

Josh Clarke

A nominee for a seventh time this season, Josh Clarke has yet to get his hands on a Player of the Month trophy, however, that could change off the back of a strong April for the Northern Irish ‘keeper. Josh kept two clean sheets in four games this month taking his seasonal tally to 14 but his influence wasn’t limited to the defensive end of the pitch. Against Dunfermline, it was Clarke’s pinpoint pass into the Pars half that got Aidan Fitzpatrick in behind to set up Alex Samuel’s second goal of the afternoon.

Ethan Ingram

Another key contributor to Thistle’s two April shutouts, Ethan Ingram was the only Jags outfielder to start all four games this month. Perhaps the right-back’s most impressive showing was in the 1-1 draw with Ayr United at Somerset Park when he had to move into central defence after Lee Ashcroft’s red card; Ingram had eight interceptions and made four clearances to help his team take a well-earned point against the Honest Men.

Aidan Fitzpatrick

Nominated for the third month in a row, Fitzpatrick’s recent form has been a significant contributor to the team’s overall success. An excellent performance and an assist against Dunfermline Athletic was followed by a goal in the Jags’ 2-2 draw with Airdrieonians at The Albert Bartlett Stadium, taking him past 20 total goal involvements for the season so far.
