We are looking to recruit a voluntary Volunteer Co-ordinator ahead of the 2026/27 season to lead our talented group of volunteers who play a key role in helping the club operate.
Role Purpose
The Volunteer Co‑ordinator ensures the football club has a strong, motivated, and well‑supported volunteer workforce. The role focuses on recruiting, organising, and supporting volunteers so the club can run smoothly on matchdays, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Recruitment
- Identify volunteer needs across the club (matchday roles, admin, events, media, maintenance, etc)
- Promote volunteering opportunities through club channels,social media, etc.
- Welcome new volunteers, explain roles, and help them settle in.
2. Volunteer Management & Support
- Maintain an up‑to‑date list of volunteers, their roles, and availability.
- Create simple rotas for matchdays, etc.
- Check in regularly with volunteers to ensure they feel valued and supported.
- Help resolve any issues or concerns volunteers may have.
3. Communication
- Act as the main point of contact for volunteers.
- Share information clearly about schedules, expectations, and club updates.
- Work closely with club staff and directors to understand volunteer needs.
4. Training & Compliance
- Ensure volunteers receive any required training (e.g., safeguarding, first aid, role‑specific guidance).
- Keep basic records of training, PVG checks (if required), and role assignments.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all volunteers.
5. Recognition & Retention
- Help create a culture where volunteers feel appreciated.
- Organise simple thank‑you gestures (e.g., end‑of‑season recognition, social events, certificates).
- Encourage feedback from volunteers to improve the experience.
Skills & Qualities Needed
- Friendly, approachable, and good at building relationships.
- Organised and reliable, with good communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and coordinate people effectively.
- Comfortable using email, messaging apps, and basic spreadsheets.
- Passion for our football club and helping others get involved.
- No football experience required — just enthusiasm and people skills.
Time Commitment
- Flexible, typically 2–4 hours per week.
- Some evening or weekend availability helpful.
- Can be shared between two people if needed.
