The Glasgow Clan picked up valuable points across a hard-fought double-header against the Manchester Storm last weekend, before turning attention to a crucial home-and-away series with the Fife Flyers.
On Valentine’s Night at Braehead Arena, the Clan made the perfect start against Manchester, with defenceman Colton Poolman opening the scoring just 1:07 into the game. The visitors responded later in the first period through Culter to level the contest.
The second period proved difficult for the Clan as Manchester capitalised twice on the powerplay. However, Brett Neumann produced a superb finish late in the period to bring the Clan back within one.
The third period saw the home side battle back, with Neumann grabbing his second of the night to tie the game and force overtime. With both sides guaranteed a point, the decisive moment came just 1:20 into OT, when Neumann fed Tristin Langan for the winner to seal a dramatic 4–3 victory.
The night also marked the return of goaltender Sami Aittokallio and forward Cade Neilson following injury layoffs, while newly-signed forward Mick Messner made his Clan debut.
The Clan travelled to Altrincham looking to complete the weekend sweep and again started brightly, with Tristin Langan opening the scoring in the first period.
Manchester responded in the second through Nardi and Ergang before Brady Risk levelled the game at two apiece heading into the final period.
A goaltending battle dominated the third and overtime, sending the game to a tense shootout. After multiple missed attempts from both sides, Loren Ulett scored the decisive sudden-death goal to give Manchester the extra point.
Across the weekend series, both teams claimed three points each, leaving the league standings unchanged with the Clan remaining in 8th place in a tightly contested table.
The week begins with an Open Training Session on Tuesday 17 February, followed by a post-training skate with the players.
Attention then turns to a key Fife double-header:
Saturday 21 February (H) – The Flyers visit Braehead Arena, where the Clan have traditionally held a strong home record.
Sunday 22 February (A) – The Clan travel to Fife for the return fixture at 5pm.
With four crucial league points on the line, the upcoming weekend presents a major opportunity for the Clan to build momentum and continue their push up the standings.
