Familiar Faces Return: McIntosh and McGhee Confirmed for Caledonia Gladiators 2026/27 Season

Caledonia Gladiators are delighted to confirm that Alix McIntosh and Kerry McGhee will return to the women’s squad for the 2026/27 season, continuing their journey with the club as recipients of the Caledonia Gladiators Scholarship.

The pair, who both combine professional basketball with full-time university studies at the University of Strathclyde, will begin their third season on the club’s dual-career scholarship programme – a milestone that reflects both their development as players and the strength of the scholarship in supporting the roster.

While this marks a third scholarship season for both Kerry and Alix, their overall tenure with the club differs: it will be Kerry’s fifth season in the team, making her the only remaining player from the Gladiators’ inaugural campaign, and Alix’s fourth season on the roster.

The scheme allows players to balance a professional basketball career with academic study, and has become an important part of the pathway the club offers to young Scottish talent.

Head Coach Donnie MacDonald says he is delighted to welcome back two players he has worked closely with throughout their time in both the club’s High Performance programme and the professional squad.

“Having Alix and Kerry return for this season says everything about the character and commitment they’ve shown,” said MacDonald. “I’ve watched them grow through our High Performance programme into two players who have consistently made real impact within the professional squad.”

Strathclyde’s Director of Sport and Active Health, Neil Brown, previously praised the partnership, noting that the University’s performance sport scholarship programme is designed to support athletes pursuing a dual career, and that the club’s flexibility and forward-thinking approach have been instrumental in helping students balance sporting and academic commitments.

With multiple strong seasons now under their belt, both McIntosh and McGhee will look to build upon this momentum under Coach Donnie MacDonald’s leadership for season 26/27.
