Gary Mackay-Steven extends Firhill stay

Gary Mackay-Steven has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The winger came to Firhill in late March on a deal until the end of the season having departed Ross County the previous month.

He made his Jags debut off the bench against Dunfermline Athletic in April and earned his first start two weeks later against Arbroath at Gayfield Park.

Playing seven times in total, Gary brings a wealth of experience to the dressing room with Dundee United, Celtic, New York City and Hearts listed among his former clubs.

Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:

“Working with Gary in the latter part of the season was a delight. I obviously knew he was a talented footballer but he also fit in nicely with the group and that’s not always easy when you join midway through the year.

“He worked hard to get up to match sharpness after a short time without a club and made a positive impact when he got his opportunities. He offers something a bit different and, with a full pre-season, I know he can make a significant contribution.”
