STARS FINALISE ROSTER WITH HARD-NOSED CONNOR

The MKM Dundee Stars are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defenceman Powell Connor for the 2026/27 season.

Connor, 26, joins the Stars following a season with the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL), where he led the team with 127 penalty minutes in 62 games.

The Chilliwack, British Columbia native spent four seasons in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs and Trail Smoke Eaters. During his rookie campaign with the Chiefs, he helped the club reach the BCHL Fred Page Cup Final before lifting the 2018 RBC Cup the following season.

Following a successful junior career, Connor committed to Michigan State University (NCAA) ahead of the 2020/21 season. He made 49 appearances for the Spartans before transferring to Canisius University (NCAA) for his final season of collegiate eligibility.

Connor turned professional with the Reading Royals during the 2023/24 campaign, making 30 appearances across two seasons before signing with the Wings ahead of the 2025/26 season.

He now brings his hard-nosed style of defending to Dundee, officially completing the Stars’ roster for the 2026/27 season.

Speaking about his move to Dundee, Connor said:

“I’ve spent the past few years in the US, so I was looking for a change of scenery. When this opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t pass it up.”

Describing the style of game he brings, he added:

“I’ve had a lot of penalty minutes. I wouldn’t say I’m just there to play physical and fight, but I’m definitely someone who cares about my teammates and is willing to step up for anyone whenever that time comes.

I also like to just play the game of hockey. I want to be out there with the puck on my stick making plays. It just so happened that last year I was the guy who had to step up for my teammates more often than not.”

Finally, Connor shared a message for Stars fans:

“Stars fans, I’m looking forward to the season. I can’t wait to play in front of you guys and meet you all.”

Head Coach Scott Dutertre commented on what Connor will bring to the Stars:

“Powell’s a gamer, the guy competes and does whatever it takes to win. He plays hard, he’ll stick up for teammates if he has to, and if you watch him on the penalty kill he just looks to eat pucks and block everything. For me, he’s a textbook Dundee Star for this season.”
